QUESTION:
Painful cuts/cracks in corners of mouth?
My husband has been complaining of dry lips and the corners of his mouth have little cracks in them and are quite red and sore. This has been going on for a few weeks and today I have noticed a little cut in the corner of my mouth that is sore, I have also been experiencing dryer than normal lips, could I have caught something from him or is it environmental? Several months ago we moved to a place with higher humidity and temperatures then we are used to, this is the only thing I can think that could be causing it. Anyone got any cures?
We are going through lip chaps / balms like crazy, it’s not cold here its hot ie: average 33C (91.4F) with 79% humidity (tropical) BUT we are in airconditioned rooms all day and eve, that’s probably it!. Its DEF not herpes/coldsores.-
ANSWER:
I wouldn’t do the sucking on candy, but the lipchap is a great idea. It’s the moisture wicking out of your lips. It is environmental – probably as you go in and out from home, to work etc. the saliva is evaporating off your lips (saliva usually gathers more in the corners, that’s why there) and leaving your skin dry and constricted (it can adhere together, while part sticks and rips, or just crack on its own) – when you move it cracks.
It would normally happen to me in the winter most but ocasionally in summer, too. My home had a higher humidity or outside did, but work was bone dry – always drinking water.
Just keep using balm; works like a charm. I always get one from Shoppers, I’m out at the moment and my lips are suuuuper dry – if I sneezed, they’d crack!Ouch! Good luck! Licking your lips is brutal for this!
Edit: herpes doesn’t manifeset like a cut/crack – it’s a usually roundish sore (cold sores are herpes).

QUESTION:
How to cure lips that are cracked at the corners?
With the change in the weather, my lips have cracked at the corners, and won’t seem to heal. (I’m assuming because every time you open your mouth, the cracks re-open). Does anyone have a cure for this? I’ve tried all kinds of over-the-counter lip ointments, as well as vitamin E. Thank you!-
ANSWER:
Most chapped lips are actually because the saliva has digestive enzymes that “eat” the skin on the lips. Then bacteria takes over, causing the itching and irritation. I’ve found that balms actually extend chapped lips conditions. The best cure I’ve found is applying hydrogen peroxide to the lips. Sometimes the lips are cured and silky smooth the next morning.Apply glossy lipstick on you lips, Use unflavored lip balm on your lips, Avoid flavored tooth paste, Use a humidifier to humidify your lips, Increase intake of water and other non alcoholic liquids, Rub cucumber slice on your lips, Apply margosa leaf extract on your lips, Put some aloe vera gel on your lips, Take a saline bath
Vitamin A is very important for the growth and repair of the skin. See to it that your diet provides you with sufficient quantity of vitamin A. Carrots, tomatoes and green leafy vegetables are the good sources of vitamin A.
Make a vitamin rich juice by adding 1 tbsp. of water cress, carrot and spinach juice, 2 tbsp. wheat germ oil, one glass of tomato juice, and 1 tbsp. of nutritional yeast. Eat whole grains, legumes and nutritional yeast.
If home remedies do not work than it is advisable to see a dermatologist as soon as possible.

QUESTION:
How to get rid of cold sores in the corner of my mouth?
I have cold sores at the corner of my mouth. It’s darker than my skin color, so it’s really noticable. At times, it randomly gets red and something would build up in the corners. I’ve always had bad skin conditions.
There is this raised lump at the corner as well, and that part often gets red or brownish, and it is REALLY embarrassing. And I’m 13, it’s winter time, here in New York, so it’s really cold.
Also, what are some moisturizer for the lips that I can use for the dry, cracked corners of my lips? I currently use vaseline, and I use it often.
The corners are dark, dry, at times I would feel like I’m drooling through it, and there are like three noticable lines there. I doubt that it would ever go away because I’ve had it since I was very small. But is there a good way to cure it?HELP PLEASE! I know I’ve asked this question just before, but I need more effective answers!

ANSWER:
If it is truly a cold sore there is no permanent cure as it is a virus that is in your body forever. It is a herpes virus. However there is an almost miracle prevention for cold sores that I have found. For me I can feel a cold sore coming on before it erupts into a big red cold sore on my lip. There is a tingling feeling that comes prior to the physical cold sore. As soon as I feel it I take 3-4 lysine tablets. Lysine is a vitamin that can be purchased at most stores. I don’t know the science behind it but if you look up lysine and cold sores in a search engine you can read about it. I take 3-4 a day until I know for sure it is not coming. It works amazing. There is also topical lysine gel you can put on a cold sore but everyone says attack it from the inside by taking the lysine pills. Try it – it works.
